AIJUSDOLOCS, pronounced “ I Jus[t] Do Locs”, is a compilation of services specifically for Loc’d and natural hair.  I am Charkendra McWashington-Thompson, your Loc-tender. My role is to improve and/or maintain the health and appearance of your locs.

My experience goes back to the beginning of my own natural hair and Loc journey. In 2005, I received the “Big Chop”, and for four beautiful years I enjoyed the versatility, strength, and unique challenges of my coils. Of course I didn’t do it alone. I frequented a natural hair salon where I was not only a client, but a student. It was at Uncle Funky’s Daughter where I learned the essentials of natural hair care and the importance of organization, professionalism, and professional integrity. I even worked the register for a little while to familiarize myself with the business side of things.

In 2008, the dynamics of my life changed in many ways… new husband, new baby, new home… leaving little time to dress my natural. I contemplated, researched, and made a life-altering decision to Loc my hair.  On July 16, 2009 my Locs were born. Over the next two years I continued to grow and learn Locs. While teaching high school English by day, I decided to attend Franklin Beauty School by night. Once I attained my license, I was on my way to fulfilling my desire to service the Locs of others.

In June of 2011, things had come full circle. The same stylist who had literally taken my hair in her hands would now take me under her wing. Hahleemah Wright, owner of The Way of Life Natural Hair Haven, gave me the privilege of learning and working with her for four years. You cannot be one of the best unless you are taught by the best. In those four years, I have gained a wealth of knowledge as it pertains to Locs and natural hair, client care, providing high quality service, and creating an exceptional experience.

My mission is to provide those very things to you.
